Alison Hurwitz has been a professional Wedding Officiant since 2003.  She creates personalized, significant ceremonies of all kinds, including handfastings, vow renewals, weddings, child blessings, and celebrations of life.  Drawing from her background as a Unitarian Universalist and from her degrees in English and Anthropology, Alison crafts rituals which reflect each couple’s cultural traditions, spiritual beliefs, and ethical choices.  As both a writer and Pushcart-prize nominated poet, Alison strives to honor her clients’ values and choices by writing and performing ceremonies that are both meaningful and beautiful.

“Alison officiated our November 5th Wedding in Cary, NC at The Upchurch. My husband and I were blown away by Alison from our first introduction call with her. The passion she has for what she does is more than I've ever seen, and she really puts her heart and soul into each wedding. Starting with Rehearsal, Alison was so organized, and an expert on ceremony timeline, details, and order of events. She was able to rally our wedding party (which is hard to do with a bunch of 20 something year old guys) and perfected it prior to the wedding the next day. Alison was beyond amazing when it came to our wedding ceremony. She made it so personal, so detailed, and really told the story of how my husband and I came to be. She was well spoken, had her thoughts in order, and was captivating! I had people coming up to me afterwards, saying that they want to get married AGAIN so that Alison can officiate their weddings. People were asking how I found Alison, because they want to use her too for their upcoming weddings.
